Mr. Abdel Motaal is an Attorney at Law, ("Avocat a la Cour de Cassation") with 31 years of local and international legal experience in the areas of consultation, contracts, dispute settlement and litigation. He is a senior partner in the corporate law firm of Abdel Motaal, Moharram and Heiza (founded in Cairo, Egypt in 1926) and he acts as counsel and legal advisor to both Egyptian and international private and public entities.

Previous to joining AMMH, Mr. Motaal worked for 17 years with the Arab International Bank as an attorney "litigator and counsel" and as Manager of the bank’s legal department. Mr. Abdel Motaal is fluent in 3 languages - Arabic, French and English and has trained in, and has expertise in both Civil Law and Shari’a Law systems. As a result of his international work and strong background in comparative legal systems, he also has extensive knowledge and experience with the Common Law system. He is recognized as a designated arbitrator in several arbitration institutions and other financial institutions including the Central Bank of Egypt. He has delivered several lectures/speeches before Egyptian and international audiences including UNESCO, OECD, the International Bar Association, the Arab League, etc. He was invited to attend the World Bank Dot Force Consultations and was chosen as a legal resource for UNITAR, the UN Cyber Law initiative, and the W.H.O. for "e-health" legal aspects. Mr. Abdel Motaal is a member of the official committee responsible for drafting new laws in Egypt, including the e-Signature Law, Privacy & Cyber Crime Law.
Mr. Abdel Motaal was educated at the Jesuit College in Cairo and Cairo University Law School. He has been a member of the Bar since 1974 and is the author of numerous legal treatises and documents.
Mr. Motaal is the Special Advisor to Pace Law Firm - Canada, for Egypt and the Middle East and is a current board member of several associations including the Canada Egypt Business Council "C.E.B.C."
