Karen is the Immigration Team's advocate in appeal matters involving denied spousal and other family class sponsorship applications and in preparing applications for judicial review of negative refugee and citizenship decisions. Karen attends regularly at hearings before the Refugee Protection Division and Immigration Appeal Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board and at the Federal Court of Canada.

Karen is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and appears monthly on Toronto's CHIN Radio with James Metcalfe, Senior Immigration Advisor, to answer various immigration queries. She is the immediate Past President of the Board of Directors of the University of Toronto Mississauga Alumni Association and is the Board Chair of the Peel Addiction and Assessment Referral Centre
